How to Prepare for a Queen Bey Concert

1. Freak out.

4. Create a playlist of her set list.

So I’m rollin’ on that free trial of Tidal right now. And it’s PERFECT because they have every song on her set list, including random music videos.

5. Decide how you want #slay the night

This is the BEST part of whole ordeal beside breathing the same air as Queen Bey. Here’s what I’m thinkin’…

      1. Jumpsuit. I wanted SO bad to Rent the Runway for this. They have some mean jumpsuits. But I’m going to be budget savvy and wear one I’ve had since last year and have never had the guts to wear in public. But there’s not holding back on this night.
      2. Mohawk updo. I wish I would’ve recorded a video of Brandon’s face when I told him I was going to put my hair in a mohawk. But it’s just the ‘do below. Hope I can do it! I might fail. We’ll see…

and… a fierce attitude. Of course. Just for you Bey.

While I spent hours envisioning what I want to look like at the concert, a new life quote came to me…

“Dress every day like you’re going to a Beyonce concert.”

Side note: If you’re heading to one of her concerts, bring a small purse. You aren’t allowed to have big purses in the stadium. This shouldn’t be a surprise because of what happened the last time I was at Soldier field… Speaking of, I’m still nervous to step back in that stadium.

6. Buy a poncho and write FLAWLESS on it with a sharpie.

In true Soldier Field fashion, it seems as if it might rain once again. Too bad I don’t even care. (As long as a tornado doesn’t want to show up to the party).

I honestly want to buy a poncho and bedazzle it in case I need to use it. I’ll settle for the FLAWLESS on the back in a sharpie, though. I don’t want to be that person who ends up getting struck by lightening because I provoked lighting with hundreds of metal studs.

7. Prepare my soul for what is about to happen to it.

“Halo”. I will cry. I’m going to ugly girl cry and in the rain probz when she sings it. Supposedly it’s the  finale. I could name a ton of her songs as “my favorite” but that one really is. AHHHHHHHH Oh! And she’s supposed to do a couple Prince songs. *bring on the tears.

Yes. Yes, I am.

A Memoir to Lil’ Wayne

*I started writing this gem on Thursday but couldn’t finish it from all of the excitement. 😉

This is in honor of purchasing tickets to my fifth Weezy concert Thursday. It was a good day. I felt the thrill I feel every time I purchase those golden tickets. Can you picture me right now in front of my rap shrine speaking in a  somber and serious voice with a natural human glow one only gets when enlightened?

No? Well, I am. Weezy is amazing. And it doesn’t matter what mood you’re in – Weezy will calm your soul.

Anyone who knows me knows that there are two rap men in my life: Lil’ Wayne and Young Jeezy (hence, “Steezy”) and ( Biggie in there as well. Of course. )

Quick recap of my relationship with Weezy?

First concert – Phoenix, AZ 2009

I Am Music Tour

^ Yes, that’s T. Pain too! Think: “Got Money” ^ Luckily I have a bestie in AZ and told her I’m coming and have 2 tickets to Wayne! My mom definitely thought I was wasting a lot of hard earned $$ foolishly, but oh no. This concert made me a better person. Because I learned that Wayne was even better than I first had imagined! 😉

…SO GET THIS. Right when I get back home from AZ, they announce he’s coming to Omaha. So naturally, I gather da crew and get floor seats. Closer than the last concert! Oh this was just perfect.

Second Concert – Omaha, NE 2009

I Am Music Tour

^ With Keri Hilson!! ^ Who else loved “Knock You Down” as much as I did? SO GOOD. This was probably my fave concert because I was going absolutely nuts! I remember my friend zooming down the interstate trying to get us there in time ( school night ) drinking Capt. Morgan as quick I could ( Sorry, mom… ) The bonus was enjoying this with my fellow North hoodlums.

Third Concert: Omaha, NE 2011

I Am Music II Tour

Another Weezy success and ya know what? These concerts were NOT getting old. I could do this as a job, people.

Fourth Concert: Omaha, NE 2013

America’s Most Wanted Tour

^ Gracing Brandon with his first Weezy experience. ^ Another successful Omaha gig for Lil’ Wayne! AND T.I.!!!!

Now, for the jamz.

When it comes to the best, I don’t even scratch the surface but thinking of my college days ( we could be here all night if I expanded on the early years )…But here’s some of my fave angelic tunes:

REBIRTH – 2009

I think I’m like the only person who thoroughly enjoyed Weezy’s rock era of ’09. “Prom Queen”, “Paradise”, “Knockout”, oh my gosh so good. (“Drop the World” ft. Eminem also snuck into that album which was amazing)

“Knockout” at 3:20 – omg. I lose my shiz.

My fave Wayne song is still “A Milli” though,  I can rap that song like no one’s bizzna$ty. Followed up with: “Mirror”.

Another good one? Tha Carter III. < Honestly probably my #1 favorite album. That thing is PACKED with hits. Home of my beloved “A Milli”, then there’s “Lollipop” ( I could make this my alarm ringtone and never get tired of it, it’s that good). There’s also “Phone Home” (CLASSIC), “Mrs. Officer”, “Let the Beat Build”…

My gawd. I need to stop. I’m just going to go jam on these and stop writing.

*If you’re in Lincoln or nearby – get yo tickets for March!

Music Monday – Reeeeeeemix

So here I am, jammin’.

Why not share these jamz with you guys! Here’s some stuff ( old & new ) that I’m L-O-V-I-N.

First, let’s start off with a little soundcloud remix action, shall we?

Take Me to Church – Hozier ( THIS song. I can’t get enough. SO GOOD )
[soundcloud url=”; params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]

Stay With Me – Sam Smith ( I don’t care how long this song has been out, I can’t stop listening – here’s my fave remix version )
[soundcloud url=”; params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]

…another goody:
[soundcloud url=”; params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]

Forever Young – Jay Z
[soundcloud url=”; params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]

Okay, so I’m not having a midlife crisis or anything, but I’m going through that phase where I miss college! Nothing better than the college jamz to remind you of the good ole party years! AMIRIGHT.

This one I listened to about 3573251515 times my Sophomore year:

Then let us not forgot about the rest of the years…

Then this one is just GOLD. Pretty sure I listened to this about 32523523525 times too. 4:19 is DA BEST part, Britney Spears is in it ( WIN ) and Lady Gaga scares me in this:

I know I’m missing tons of gems but I’ll save that for another Music post 😉 What’s your fave remixed jam?? Do share!! 😀

OH MY MY MY!!! Thank tha lawd for this song! This song is so amazing. A little feminism hits country, oh how that feels oh so good!

Now don’t get wrong, I LOVE my country, but lately it just hasn’t been the same and honestly, I’ve kind of stopped listening. Most songs are about trucks, girls in skinny jeans hopping into those trucks, girls in those skinny jeans drinking beer. Yeah, yeah, yeah… WE GET IT.

What ever happened to country being about real life experiences? I love country party songs, so I don’t want you to think I’m getting the wrong idea here ( Dirt Road Anthem = One of my country fave ). But does EVERY song need to sound the same? NO.

This song has brought country back to life for me. BRAAA-VO to these ladies!

It got me thinking about some of my fave ladies in country, here’s some quotes I <3

She gon’ done it again!

Seriously, Beyonce? Can you GET any cooler?

You’ve probably heard by now but this Queen just did something amazing. She released an album while the world was asleep.

Also, there’s 32 new songs & videos to add to your iTunes collection. No bigs.

I’m mind blown.

They’re all good too, not that I’m surprised.

Give your ears some lovin’ and download this shiz. You won’t be sorry!
